LAGOS STATE GOVERNMENT BAN LIVE BAND!!!
State government ban live bands from performing in joints

Sorry good people of Lagos, you have to take the groove to another state.
This is because the
LAGOS State government has banned live band music at beer parlours restaurants
and food joints in the state in a renewed war against noise pollution in the
state.
General Manager, Lagos
State Environment Protection Agency, LASEPA, Adebola Shabi, who spoke with newsmen, said that the decision
on noise pollution came on the heels of increasing rate of petitions by
residents.
He said the residents
were found lamenting the frequent disturbance from the beer parlours, club
houses and religious houses.
In all languages of the
world noise is always regarded as an unwelcome guest in the society, especially
in schools, hospitals, offices, conferences, stakeholders’ meeting and every
formal public gathering. In Yoruba Language it is Ariwo In Igbo Language it is Mbotu In Hausa Language it is Surutu In every other language as well, noise is a
menace.
In 2015 alone, there
were over 1527 reported cases of noise pollution in Lagos state, with 57 of
those resulting in medical concerns.
So live bands, will no
longer be able to operate at bars, clubs and beer parlours due to the noise
concerns.
How sad.
But for those of you who
are angered at the announcement, and feel it is unfair, seeing how the greatest
sources of noise pollution in Lagos state are religious houses and faith-based
gatherings, you are not alone. The government understands this too.
Which is why they have
also called on religious houses to procure sound proof finishing, in order to
minimise the effect of noise generated on their neighbouring residents through
various speakers mounted outside walls of their churches and mosques.
The LASEPA boss also decried the rate at which
residential areas were being converted to commercial areas without
government’s approval, blaming the residents for not informing the government
about the development.
