Captain Idahosa who expressed his profound joy that a film academy is sited in Benin City, commended the initiators, Igbinedion University and Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen’s Nollywood Project 101 for deeming it fit to establish the academy in Benin City, Edo state and urges all well meaning Edo sons and daughters in the state and abroad to support this “ make a filmmaker ” initiative of Benin Film Academy which is aimed at encouraging sponsorship of indigent Edo youths who are interested in the arts and craft of filmmaking. Speaking further, he said this will help in making Edo state a hub for the business of filmmaking and entertainment and also rid the streets of insecurities

The Lagos State Police Command have arrested three suspects over the assassination of Hector Oluwaseun Jobarteh, winner of the 2006 Gulder Ultimate Search, GUS, reality TV, Season 3,  last Sunday. Hector Jobarteh who just returned to Nigeria in July, after his wife moved to New Jersey to have their second baby, was shot dead by unknown gunmen at his residence in New Oko-Oba, area of Lagos State.   The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Imohimi Edgal, yesterday, said three people have been arrested and are currently being interrogated over the assassination of Jobarteh, who was reportedly trailed to his house and shot dead. Edgal said: “Some yet-to-be identified hoodlums, pretending to be friends of the deceased, gained access into the apartment of Hector Jobarteh, 38, in the presence of his brother, one Victor Joberteh, at 8, Olufowora Close, New Oke-Oba. “They shot the said Hector on the chest without any dialogue and fled from the scene. “The Divisional Police

A young man identified as Yari Inusa, has died while competing with another suitor for a lady’s hand in marriage, The incident recently occurred at Durmin Biri village, in the Kafur Local Government Area of Katsina State. Police sources said Inusa following injuries he sustained on the head when he engaged in a Fulani traditional game of Sharo with another man, Ahmed Saidu, to determine who would marry the lady. The traditional game requires two male suitors to bitterly flog themselves for a woman’s hand in marriage. Whoever wins between them will marry the girl. Inusa had reportedly flogged Saidu without any incident, but tragedy struck when it was the turn of Saidu to flog Inusa. Saidu allegedly hit Inusa on the head, instead of hitting him on the back as the rules of the game dictate.
